Hats off to all involved in creating and displaying the heraldic banners.
It's heartening that the participants of a historic event from so long ago are commemorated in this way, even though I guess most that pass the banners may not appreciate their significance.
Once again a suitable posting time.
Is Edward IV "sun in splendour" where the pub at the bottom of Portobello Road gets its name?

Wondering if they pronounce Wrotham like the village in Kent - root-um - or as its written.

Wasn’t the battle of Turnham Green in London?

Secondary though: that painting at the Museum of Barnet is truly dreadful.
Every word of this is pure gold, especially the bit about the golf-course moat!

Timely for me as I'm currently reading a library book on this period, focusing on the Welsh aspect of the wars. My school seemed to think there was no history between 1300 and 1714, and jumped from Edward II to the Georges.
Philippa Gregory's books (written from the perspective of the various dynastic leading females) really brought the period to life for me.
Fascinating.

As an aside, that area between Barnet and the M25 has annoyingly few public footpaths when compared to most areas on the edge of London.
