Did the BBC kill the liberal party's electoral prospects?
No.
I vaguely remember the Liberal party being led by Jeremy Thorpe until a scandal finished off both him and his party as we know it today.
I more than vaguely remember, but the Liberal Party was considered an irrelevance long before the Thorpe scandal - indeed, it was under his immediate successor and the one after that that the steady rise in its fortunes began, that was only killed off by going into coalition in 2010.
The SNP is the third party at Westminster.
Having a speech by the Prime Minister on the night before a general election, without also having one from at least the Leader of the Opposition, wouldn't be allowed today.
