Aren't cyclysts supposed to dismount when passing under towpath bridges? Never seen it happen of course.
The Olympic Stadium will be used for 5 matches during the rugby world cup later this year. There is also a Barbarians v Samoa game there on Aug 29.
Got your photo/disk full problem solved then?
Was that a War of the Worlds reference?

Not in my understanding. Two dings to say you're there, and then use your common-sense: which should, admittedly, mean giving way to pedestrians if there's a conflict - and if you fall off, or in the canal, tough luck (I am a cyclist, by the way).
To be honest I quite enjoy the "bleakness" of the central area (I never realised it had the name Mandeville Place BTW). A place to sometimes stop off on my cycle rides to or from work; away from the hustle and bustle of the playground area, a chance to reminisce on what was there and marvel at what a transformation has taken place. We're all too ready to knock this country's achievements, but this place (like the Olympics themselves) is something of which we should be truly proud.
Never realised Westfield was already planned before the Olympics. Would it have been on the same scale? Can't see it being as popular if it didn't happen.
It all started when the route for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link was moved from south London/Waterloo to serve the Thames gateway and routed to St Pancras via Ebbsfleet and Stratford. The railways lands were a part of the Secretary of State for Transport's property portfolio, but initially was simple land raised from the TBM spoil to create the platform for Westfield development. The rest is history.
I cycled through the north part of the park at about 8 o'clock last night, and it was lovely to see so many people still out enjoying it. There were a good few dozen folk catching the late evening sun on the grassy knoll leading up to the Olympic rings near the Velodrome, while a hundred or so cyclists were zipping round the road circuit in what looked like a time trial race.

The IBC is beginning to look a lot less like an aircraft hangar - the north end (soon to be an offshoot campus of Loughborough Uni) has had most of its floor-to-ceiling windows installed, and the west side is getting the same treatment soon.

The park's still not perfect - there's still too much tarmac, and the road layout infuriates me - but it's certainly feeling more of a 'place' than when it first opened.
Loved the photos - thanks DG. I think transformation is too mild a word: the park is one thing but the residential (and office) towers marching east from Bow roundabout is verging on frightening. I do hope you'll be back in another ten years to report on how they've stood the test of time. It's madness... Westfield also adding to it with another 1000 flats opposite Glasshouse Gardens.
Went there today (mainly to see a couple of Greenwich & Docklands International events, but also to see how the plants and flowers are looking, now we're coming into summer). It's looking good, though it's a bit of a shame that last year's carnival - which was great - seems to have been a one-off (to mark the halfway between London 2012 and Rio 2016) and isn't due to be repeated.
As regards cycling, I've found you actually take up more width if you get off and push, so it's more practical to stay on and go real slow
