47 - Chiquito
Ah! I had a nagging feeling that somehow 49 would be "Spud U Like" given that Elizabeth I was associated with Walter Raleigh and his potatoes, and George V supposedly ate mashed potato with everything. I just couldn't rationalise transforming the Elizabeth 2 and George VI back by one number with "food returned"

Disappointed to see I was wrong and it was a simple play on "King" apparently.
Ah, I forgot that one. Couldn't make Chilango or Chipotle really fit so took a guess.
31 - Chicken Cottage!
That's all 50 guessed!

Ok, just ignore me, playing by myself here!
I didn't scroll down enough to see the completed list!
Typical food court. More Starbucks than you can throw a brick at. And I should know, I tried last May Day.
Thanks for the >unsnip< .
I spot a distinct lack of Starbucks in the vertical row from 6 down to 30. Market opportunity there. But of course, number 19 is probably serving 20% of the footfall in the northeast sector of the mall, so I'd recommend closing that one and purchasing unit 10 and 30 instead.
Of the 50 "well known" chains, I have only heard of 18 of them.
If I am out I normally look for a traditional greasy spoon type of cafe.
However I got two correct, Starbucks and Wimpy.
Looking at the full list I see I've not eaten in any of them for at least 5 years. If I take Pret off the list then barring McDs, Prezzo and Wagamama I've never used the rest.
I wasn't thinking of 43 when I suggested Giraffe for 46, it seems that giraffes can sometimes sleep with one side of the brain and one eye active
What a great post - I do like a good quiz! 21 of them I've never been to.
I was expecting one of them to be a Coffee Republic or a Wendy's.

Now I can say that I liked the Sundollars clue, Christmas returns would have been good - but have never heard of them - so it was wasted on me.

13 - I couldn't get Trump out of my head.
Wendy's pulled out of the UK in 2000.
As a Canadian my first guess at #27, weak and feeble, was a reference to the coffee at Tim Horton's.
Either I'm blind or the place referred to as a 'food court' doesn't register in me olde braine. Very few of these "well known" brands are in any sense meaningful to me I guess their logos would mean even less to me...another game found elsewhere.
No Pret? I would've put them in your Starbucks category; expensive and prolific.
Pret? Nah, Costa.
Damn I solved the clue properly and put it next to the wrong number.
