I wonder if they picked E20 so some of the post codes in full could be something like E20 12A.

QEII would be 105 in 2031. Her mother passed 100 so not entirely impossible.

The post codes run in alphabetical order E1 Aldgate, E2 Bethnal Green, E3 Bow, E4 Chingford. E18 being Woodford so surley as you say the should be looking at E19 an an area name starting later alphabetically than Woodford.

If the Post office can allocate a London Postal Code for Stratford, why do they not do the same for other well known London areas, e.g. Wembley or Richmond?.

They can't put anything nice into the vacant plots while waiting to build on them, because if they do then people will get used to having it and will protest when it's taken away so that the planned building can go ahead. See, for example, the current fuss in Honour Oak Park, where the council prudently bought land decades ago for eventual use as burial space, but now the local residents are used to it being a park and don't want it turned into a graveyard.

Bugger, I had just gotten all excited at the prospect of some new allotments nearby...but of course Mike Scott is right. Huh.

Which one's the one that's a bit gobsmacking?

Larry - perhaps its finding out that DG is a closet Eastenders fan?

It is alphabetically after Woodford - "Wouldn't-live-there-if-you-paid-me"

More seriously, Thamesmead (SE28) was tacked on the end of the SE postcodes, and both SE and SW run in two separate alphabetical sequences, (starting again at SE19 - Crystal Palace, and SW11 - Battersea) so I don't see a problem with it being out of alphabetical sequence.

Changing Richmond from TW10 to SW-something would be a lot of trouble for no real benefit.

And perhaps it's not E19 because I read that it has been proposed to change IG1 postcodes to E19, although the GPO wouldn't have it.

The last time there was a competition to name a new area of London, the winning answer was "Thamesmead".

I think the landscaping holds great promise. Scupltural, Tele tubby is a bit dismissive is it not. I think the park will be the one great thing about the thing. Hopefully because of the cost, it will be politically impossible to cut maintenance costs over the years.

They should just give the renaming job to Foxtons or a developer they seem to be experts at half-hearted re-branding exercises.

Just take whatever's nearby and add Village, Riverside, Canalside, Creekside, Park, City, Circus, Gardens or Fields.

Leyton Village, Olympic Fields, Stratford Riverside.

Thankfully there are plans to extend the school trips work currently happening at the View Tube by building a new residential education centre

E1 is/was Eastern District Office, not Aldgate

@John They only change when there is a considerable shift in densities.
