No longer unique, alas - Bob Dylan has both an Oscar and a Nobel prize.
Difficult to reach - perhaps Hilary McGrady will knock it down and rebuild it in Birmingham.
Wouldn't it be loverly - the song I used to hum in my head when the kids were being little sods and I needed to retreat into my "happy place", as throttling them was frowned upon!

Sounds like a good (and close) place to visit.
I was slightly underwhelmed when I visited Shaw's Corner some years ago, but I'm glad you enjoyed good weather in my part of the world. It's certainly an enjoyable place to walk when the sun's your friend.
Thanks for providing yet another choice for me to visit.
Lovely. Thanks very much.
The more I learn about GBS the more I want to learn. He was an extraordinarily well connected chap, and, it seems, completely uninhibited mentally and physically; witness this little episode with M. Rodin.

[ Not bad for 50 eh ].

Thanks for this loverly writeup; I am long overdue a visit to Shaw's Corner.
Sounds great, never been even though I lived in Hertfordshire for a few years.

Caught early bluebells too today on this Sussex walk with an extension to the Elsted Inn. There's one bus a day back from Elsted to Petersfield but it runs as at fairly convenient 16:10.
Shame I missed the new church when I visited, maybe an excuse to go back
Loved your piece. Made me feel like I'd had a great day out. Thank you so much.
I feel even worse than Lorenzo, I lived within 5 miles for 20 years and never went! Will have to manage a trip back at some point to check it out.
I would recommend going to Ayot St Lawrence to catch the Art Show at the Palladian church , www.ayotartshow.co.uk, but try to get there towards the start of the show if you want to buy something. The Bricket Arms is a great country pub and served good food last time I was there. St Albans is a good destination to work I too, with the new museum opening in the old town hall this summer.
Happily, Bernard Shaw named his rotating shed 'London', so that visitors to the house could be turned away by his wife (i.e. 'George is unavailable, he's in London)
