It was obvious what was needed, though I'm not good at this task unless I have some idea of what the answer might look like.

With a first answer via an online tool, possible solutions came to mind and some more answers came fairly quickly without the tool, though laziness meant I used the tool for the rest.

Hmmm. Just shows how much people differ. I glanced at this, decided I coudn't work it out and had no interest in doing so, and am now waiting with mild ambivalence not to find out what the answers were but for an explanation. I enjoy any number of pointless things but for some reason not Sudoku and the like. On the other hand I'll spend ages trying to undo a knot rather than cut the string on some packaging.

I could only get started after seeing the 7pm clue. I was convinced, given DG's recent trip to Paris, that they'd be in French and, indeed, most all of them will produce French words. None of them were the names of Métro stations, which was the sort of thing I thought he'd do. Then I noticed a link (even in French) between three of the possibilites, so got all nine via a more conventional route.
