a number of families *oligopolising the play area?
Carlio: thanks, I was wondering where the third S came from!
...and everyone missed the SSSI error yesterday. Fixed, thanks.

Now, is anyone interested in geology?
Can you possibly provide the what three words designation of the chalk pits? Thanks

Fascinating set of posts, I'm really enjoying a(nother) fresh look at London - thanks!
Fascinating post! Though reports about mining in Pinner are testing my credulity, given the "Hither Green Viaduct" episode.
Wish I knew more about geology
Fascinating stuff. I knew Blackheath was so named for its black pebbles thanks to a visit to Lesnes Abbey & Woods which is a treat for a day out and will probably provide my first trip on the Elizabeth Line!

On the other hand, I've never heard of Montesole Playing Field, despite it being within (albeit fairly long) walking distance!
I’m currently up at the fossil bed in Lesnes Abbey Woods. Alas no shark teeth on show today.
is anyone interested in geology?
Man, I really dig that subject.

I'll get my coat and see myself out.

P.S. I hope that the Powers That Be let you in to have a closer look at Gilbert's Pit.
Another set of informative and entertaining posts over the weekend.
Talking geology, have you read Tom Chivers' excellent book London Clay? He even gives you a mention in there I recall, I think on the chapter about the Neckinger River.
