I used to buy from my local Percy Ingle but sadly no more. Oh for a local non-artisan independent bakery so that I could avoid purchasing my wheaty comestibles from the local Sainsburys or Tesco.
Good to see Kingshill Parade as I was brought up on the 'large post-war estate' down the road. We just called it Hayes. There is also a terrific Portuguese cafe if you ever revisit.
Someone wearing a headscarf said they didn't have any cheese and bacon slices, did you believe her?, I'm suspicious following a real world incident.

If your religious beliefs prevent you from handling pork products, even when wearing gloves or using tongs, why are you doing a job that involves contact with them.

"would know it's name" in a piece about misuse of apostrophes - ha!
I'm sure that Diamond Geezer is trolling us with that apostrophe aberration
I think you mean White Lodge?

dg writes: no, White Ash Lodge.

Thank you for an interesting post.
I spent 17 years of my life growing up looking at that* railway bridge in the boundary. To this day, I know South Harrow better than Northolt because we always went north. Please allow me the frisson of excitement that comes with knowing DG was tramping the street of my youth.

* Not that specific bridge as it was replaced about a decade ago. Timelapse video on YouTube.
After your suggestion, I now have a spreadsheet logging my London Borough visits, so far I've been to 11 (plus the City) this year.

From memory there are definitely several outer London boroughs I've not been to since before Covid.
Ooh DG is coming to Harrow!!! I also know that corner of Harrow, Northolt Road being my nearest High Street. The Triple S Foods to the left of your photo was until just before the pandemic, Spicy Nights - our favourite Indian takeaway. Gutted, until we found a replacement.

I was also near the Kingshill Bakery recently when finishing a leg of the Yeading Brook in Yeading Brook Meadows. I only stayed on the 90 long enough to change onto the X140 though.
The Queen often wears a headscarf.
Thought you would have a 60+ Oystercard at least by now! I got my one very recently so have started to use public transport again since before the pandemic hit.

Loving the ironic use of a superfluous apostrophe in "it's" - this Blog is as super-reliable as ever. The high-point of an excellent post today.
I'll be starting at the Kingston Coronation Stone tomorrow in a "let's see how muddy it is" London Loop trek towards Hatton Cross. Will inspect that piece of paper.
You’ve obviously got a real spring in your step again with the post-Covid (well, perhaps....) Travelcard in hand. Congratulations on creating such an entertaining post about relatively straightforward journeys and places visited.
Love an old school bakery and some tottenham cake.

You live like a lottery winner, i bet you must miss the 9-5!
The deer you encountered in Richmond Park may have been the herd relocated permanently from Greenwich Park. By all accounts they have settled well into their new habitat.
We have a lovely bakery chain centred on the former Borough of Twickenham. It's called Cavan Bakery and for freshness and price it can't be beaten.
Not only a superfluous apostrophe in it's, but missing apostrophes in its and dont. A triple whammy – superb!
Peters Hairdresser S apostropheless. You couldn't've made it up.
An estate agent can honestly state that trains from Southend pass Beam Park, but there are fewer than a handful per day. The bulk of the service comes from Grays or Pitsea.
The sign at Peters Hairdresser s appears to be printed in Comic Sans, which (in addition to being generally awful) was only designed in 1994. I wonder whether the signage they had from 1966 until whenever the current sign was printed had the same issue with its apostrophes.
Ooh, Northolt Road, South Harrow was my stomping ground in my mis-spent youth! Nice to see you out and about near me, you should come over to my neighbourhood of UB9 next time, lots of bloggable stuff to see and i can even make you a cuppa. Thanks!
