18: Good on them for phoning! We were left without house insurance for nearly a year after our insurers cancelled our policy without telling us. It later turned out that they sent letters to our old address but didn’t make any effort to call us.

Fortunately no claimable incidents happened in the year we were not insured…
17. Heston
22. What were the two you didn’t get?
1. Is driving an MG ever really a joy?
3) my condolences for your loss
22) still only at 85%, over the course of a week while I wasn't in London and purposefully avoiding the tube map. The outer reaches of Crossrail, the District and the Met are apparently mostly a mystery to me.
18 Good thing it wasn’t car insurance - because you are still responsible if you’re not insured, 6-8 points and £££
3. Do they do Tunnock's Teacakes??
20. But not for your birthday earlier this year?
(questions will not be answered)
6: Cruising with fenders down! Tut, tut.
20. Congratulations (and thanks) to DGD for over 40 years retention and preservation in preference to single-use of plastic before the phrase came to public concern.
Re-use is preferable to recycle.
21 I half wonder if Steve has previously revelled in his stilted delivery when script reading, as it was always obvious on his old show when he was doing it. Not great for PotP though.
4 - agree there, deliberate sabotage.
8th: Been there, done that, failed to eat toast....

But I took mine back and got a new one that also didn't work so then I read the instructions...
21 He did, he is.
14 - well done for updating your unconscious so promptly - mine has yet to be so updated. I'd therefore be grateful of news media would would adopt the simple expedient of referring to "King Charles", "Queen Camilla" and "Queen Elizabeth" to avert bizarre images of the dead returning to life.
8. I first encountered this phenomenon at least 10 years ago. As things often get unplugged for no obvious reason in the household I was visiting, I had got used to checking for such in connection with other devices. Which saved me from your blunder, which I am sure I would otherwise have been susceptible to.
4. William Barter’s piece in the New Civil Engineer, explaining the necessity for a 11 platform Euston, linked to by a respondent to your tweet is a masterpiece.

The phrase spoiling the ship for a ha’porth worth of tar springs to mind. Of course 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 are curtailing the project so much that a handful of platforms will be adequate for a while.

Also, was this only a month ago?
6 - I can still remember a lovely walk along the canal in Burton-on-Trent to the Marston's brewery "tap" being aborted by a particularly aggressive gaggle of geese... We ended up diverting through an industrial estate!
30: Ten days ago I saw a suprising number of giraffe trail spotters while wandering around Croydon with 30 minutes to wait for an hourly train. There seemed to be more leaflets about the giraffes than the trains at East Croydon station.
22: I was hoping we'd learn your score today. Thank you and chapeau!
11: Congrats to TH archives for an amazingly quick response, given that local government budget cuts so often fall on what are seen as “fringe” services. Mind you, most solicitors say getting local searches done in time is well-nigh hopeless across London.

16: No, you’re not alone. Have had exactly the same problem, but with Yorkshire Tea teabags; maybe made in the same factory as Tesco’s, with a duff perforation machine. Assumed it was just bad luck but now it looks like a pattern.
3) Mmmmmm ... just can't have 1 of them, or two. But if you scoff the whole pack they do abrade the roof of the mouth a bit.
1) I will save this image and send it to friends every 25th November. Thank you.
10) Okay, although I don't think I was even planning to.
3. Same has happened in the beer aisle in my nearest Asda. The selection is now very limited.

4. Spot on

16. PG Tips tea bags also fall apart much more regularly these days. I think it may be down to the new biodegradable plant based material.

21. Factoids, actually. His presentation was ever thus, he has never managed to present in a natural, conversational style.
21: Paul G knew what he was talking about, but at times he clearly recorded the links and someone else played the music which slightly felt like cheating to me. I've noticed a few naff re-recordings being played (those ones with "at least one member of the original band" you get on compilations), and at least one cover version by a different artist, with no comment from Paul at the end. They're presumably pulled out of the BBC's music file store, which isn't always catalogued as fully as it should be.
16. Time to upgrade to leaf tea perhaps.
29. With you on the inadequate signage at Vauxhall BR. Never know which platform to go to when changing from tube.
2: Go and watch her videos on Numberphile on YouTube. And also listen to the Numberphile podcast epidsode where she talks about her cancer experience. It's way better than the TV program of the same topic.

21: I've noticed the same thing with some of the Richard Osman replacements on Pointless.

23: It's a complex situation and anyone who says it's solely the fault of one group or another doesn't understand it.

24: Many programmes like GBBO, GBSB, et al all distort the timeline of activites to create artificial tension. You can sometimes glimpse continuity errors in the background of shots. At least we don't get the American style over-hyped voiceover.

28: Clearly Emily loves you...

29: I thought they were starting to remove trains from screens X minutes before the train is due to depart to stop last minute rushes to platforms.
1: That is quite a smash, I hope they didn't injure anyone.

10: That sounds horrible.

11: Maybe he thought that it is the sort of thing you would be interested in.

13: At least she didn't let the dog sit on the seats.

30: I often wonder what happens to things like that once the trail ends. Do they get auctioned off or do they go to who sponsered them or designed them. I would hate to think that they would get destroyed or sent to landfill.
8: Does this mean you already have a wedding present.

31: For this wedding.
30. Barry, yes they do, for charity.
26 - Hash Browns aren't English, they are an "invasive species" from the USA. A true English breakfast should have fried bread, not hash browns.

12 - The re-routing of the 339 means that it will no longer serve Hackney Wick station, which is a bit of a shame.
3. I can highly recommend the Aldi own-brand version, which may even be nicer than the original.
5. Miaow!
13. Nice doggies, but absolutely no reason for it to be in the aisle. A pass-agg comment always feels good.
27. Quite. But I also unfailingly tut at things that annoy me.
29. I detest having to traverse that sub-platform corridor filled with confusing, rarely adequate sign boards.
22. Thankyou for the opportunity to while away a wet morning.
Seven Overground and six DLR stations still to work out
1. Is that a bollard it hit, if so its one for The World Bollard Association on Twitter?. Sorry on X.
4. This whole project has been a travesty

13. Inconsiderate behaviour seems to be on the increase among all ages but coupled with an increase in anger - particularly among the youth, it can lead to flashpoints.

19. Hope this doesn't trigger the start of eye-watering rent increases.

22. I got to about 78% before a tube journey reminded me of a few more! Pretty much stalled at 80% though.
7: Is there bike accomodation at both ends of the Class 755? If there isn't then a campaign is needed to have Greater Anglia run the train the other way round to Sudbury to enable "active transport".

Also, are you aware of the "beyond and back" split ticket hack to make London-Sudbury tickets cheaper (change at COL, back track to MKT), works for other stations on GEML only served by slow trains (Advances only sold on fast trains)
1. Bloody cyclists.

12. I suspect it will be used illegally by plenty of other vehicles (many with tinted windscreens, plates covered or illegally positioned numbers/letters). Once the wider area transfers to the boroughs, I'd not be surprised if the mayor of Tower Hamlets makes it a free for all.

19. A lovely addition. I remember reading about how much you loved the small S&M cafés a decade or so ago. I can't help but wonder if a younger DG would have liked this place too. Perhaps give it a go and support an independent local.

dg writes: It's very much not a sausage & mash cafe.
27. I’m definitely bitter enough to tut at my annoyances.
12) Interesting. I might be in London on the 18th. If so I might have to make a detour to check this out.

22) I managed to get the full 100.3% without too much difficulty partly because I have a good memory of the map but also because I went around it systematically (starting from my old home station of Plaistow of course).
2. After the title of one of her podcasts caught my eye, I listened in but soon realised that the subject wasn't actual hockey sticks, but something else entirely...
3. Tesco own brand Caramel Wafers are not too bad.
Not as good as Scotland`s Finest obviously.
3. The tunnocks wafers should still be in all 4 E3 Tescos.
They've been reclassified so could be worth looking down the other end of the aisle for them.
5. Bit harsh

6. Just a bit of shooing required
7. On c2c's similar new trains you can compare and contrast the aisle width with 3+2 (as used by GA) and 2+2 seating as c2c use both. You could drive a metaphorical bus down the latter.
16. More to the point, why do most manufacturers insist on issuing teabags in pairs when most people make tea in mugs? Even if you're using a teapot, you're just as likely to need one bag or three as you are two. It's just so stressful, when you only realise at the very moment the kettle comes to the boil that you still need to separate the bags...
4. No chance at all now I suppose for a revamp of the awful Euston Bus Station.

5. Surprised you can recognise people from so long ago so easily! I struggle sometimes with people I every other week! Maybe I should be worried.

9. In general, temporary traffic lights seem to be the opposite of how usual traffic lights are programmed. As in rather than short cycles, they have extremely long cycles. Now that wouldn't be a particular issue, but in London there really isn't much holding capacity at junctions. This easily causes knock-on jams. Not too sure why TfL and the councils allow this.

16. The packaging on Tesco's microwavable puddings has also gotten worse this year. It seems impossible to remove the plastic film cleanly anymore without struggling.
12 Bus stops E and OH which will no longer be served by the 339 are not on Wick Lane as stated by TfL. That confused me at first when trying to work out the new routeing.
4. For this they demolished the Bree Louise.
3.Sainsburys seem to have stopped selling tinned water chestnuts. On the other hand the asian isle has huge packets of spices for a fraction of the price of the piddly plastic pots they display elsewhere.
31. Look on the bright side. Oyster 60+ card.
27: thought so.
Days which have not inspired comment: 15 25

...which is record-breakingly few, cheers!

(and I can't believe nobody commented about the thing in my eye)

16. Hardly ever happens with Yorkshire.

29. 7 for Waterloo is almost always best (and 8 for Clapham Jn).
25: I bought a box of 6 Mr Kipling Mince Pies on 30th October which were reduced to 60p (down from £2.35) as that was their Best Before date. I have no doubt they will still be fine well into December.
27 - let me be the judge of what I tut at…
22 I am intrigued (and frustrated!) by this. I managed to get over 90% by myself but even with the help of a map I can't get more than 100%
3. I found the Tunnocks further down the aisle, thanks, hidden behind a pillar by the pink wafers.
