Let them go ! ( and then let them see if they are better off in Essex)
Four parkruns.
I'm sure he's also passionate about havering in the Scots sense of the word.
If this mad idea proposed by Mr Rosindell ever became reality and TfL ceased to run bus services in Havering, could TfL potentially axe the 86 route beyond Chadwell Heath.

I think this idea of his does not represent a good use of public money.
Three parkruns.
Raphael parkrun, Ingrebourne Hill parkrun, Harrow Lodge parkrun, Harrow Lodge junior parkrun.
The whole of Essex opts in to Tfl? How's that work? But I suppose it works for Amersham somehow.
He might well want Havering out of London but what do the residents if Havering actually want?
From the BBC clip, the proposal is to offer Havering residents a referendum.
Providing we also cut off Hillingdon from the west, it seems like a sensible tidying measure...
Alex H: not to mention the 5.
Does 'opt in' include paying an appropriate amount to cover the service? In which case part of the GLA charge would remain? And the EU has recently been asking for large amounts if the UK wants to start joining in some of their schemes again.

But the Bill won't pass as you make clear, so perhaps it might be better to make clear before any referendum that withdrawal from a larger body does not mean you can continue to receive benefits at the larger body's expense.
Chris Atkins, yes, because Nigel Farage is renowned for disclosing the downsides to his proposals upfront :)
Utter madness of course. I can't help feeling though that the clumsy way ULEZ was extended has given ammunition to this sort of thing. A 100 yard leg to get out into proper rural Essex with possibly poor public transport really shouldn't be charged tha same as a long drive within London where numerous alternatives exist.
i assume essex would have to agree to take them back? or would they be stuck in the middle?
Oh dear, politics again. Yawn.
Refunds are available in the usual place.
Sounds like Brexit all over again! There must be far more worthy causes for an MP to focus on.
There are similar noises amongst Bromley councillors.
Also supported by “feelings” rather than any real facts.
as with many obsessions, you have to wonder if there's nothing more important to worry about in Havering.
Havering is the only borough where primary school numbers are growing.
Of course London Transport buses comprehensively served Romford Essex for decades before the Greater London area was established in 1965 - and Barking, Dagenham, Ilford, East Ham, West Ham etc too; and far beyond that to Epping, Ongar, Grays, Harlow, Bishops Stortford. The rot set in when LT was placed under local government control in 1970. TfL should be taken off the mayor and reconstituted as a new ‘LT’ running what is does best - buses and trains. Responsibilities like roads, cycling, and walking (laugh) should go back to the councils. No reason why the Liberty Line shouldn’t continue - the Chesham shuttle was operated by LT for years and had never been in London.
Will he campaign to bring back the cattle market? With the through east-west road traffic running right through it obviously!
Havering gets whatever a place like Camden gets, yet Havering is next to the M25 and borders Essex, a car owner in Havering will view their travel options in a different way to someone in Camden who uses public transport.

The view that Reform/Tory voting car drivers in the outer boroughs are being fleeced bv a Labour dominated authority isn't an unreasonable one, many people on the outskirts will work in areas outside of London without comprehensive public transport, so that car that Labour voters in inner London hate isn't some lifestyle choice.
More fake patriotic nonsense that, this time, should be taken seriously. The Brexit peddler is once again deploying a similar divide-and-rule tactic, switching parties to protect his Westminster sinecure. Don’t assume it won’t happen. Take at face value those who put their hostility to others above the country’s economic security and London's future. The answer to this absurdity may lie in a later reorganisation of Greater London, with a reduction in the number of boroughs.
Up next: Hillingdon to rejoin Middlesex
I will put something about this in my somewhat resurrected weblog. Am in Upminster but Rosindell was seen there with his beflagged bulldog advertising Brexit in advance. I think that programme seems to be called Politics England in the Radio Times, so thank you for the hour.

Rory Stewart in last week's podcast spoke well about Rosindell, who apparently knows more about flags than anyone else and was "exonerated" after 2 years of police investigation, but "exonerated" is not a legal term and I think they just didn't find enough evidence to prosecute, so whether or not he was guilty we don't know. Will have to follow Private Eye for more.

I just loathe the Hexit idea. The Hornchurch MP has recently been very active on FB with a photographer. She is responsible for getting police back to Hornchurch according to her, but she didn#t mention it was Boris Johnson who limited them. Thanks very much for this.
"Residents of Havering might find out they lose more than they gain"

I think this sentence would equally apply to Reform voters in general.
Greater Manchester has similar issues with some in Bolton demanding to be reunited with Lancashire. But prior to Greater Manchester existing, Bolton was a county borough, and the chances are an "independent" Bolton would become a unitary authority and suddenly would have to fend completely for itself.

But the practical arguments like loss of services don't hold much sway with the proponents of such moves. They're looking to recreate a Utopian past. One that quite likely didn't even exist in the first place.
The diocese of Chelmsford also covers Barking and Dagenham, so maybe Rosindell wants them to go to Essex too.
The man who "knows more about flags than anyone else" once summoned me (as I had just been given responsibility for Government flag flying on top of my other jobs) to berate me for getting one of the "overseas territories" flags wrong on Horse Guards Road. When I got back and checked it turned out we (or rather our contractors) were right after all.
Noted - why am I not surprised?
Born in Essex. Walked to school along A12. Dad commuted to City from Shenfield. Horrible part of the world.
Presumably Essex Police would have to shoulder the burden of policing Havering, so their precept on the County's tax would increase.
Meanwhile, the Met's would decrease.
Next, Kingston, lop off that rather rude pointy bit.
Another Reform bell end
Having grown up in the area, too often amongst the general ignorance that led to the Brexit vote, it's the usual petty-minded 'can't be bothered to actually understand what it would mean and what Sadiq Khan actually does' logic. Instead, I would ask why London *doesn't* included the very similar Watford area, which might benefit from better integration with London transport services.
Essex Police used to patrol Romford, and Dagenham too, back in the day.
Oh dear, what a shame.
This reminds me of the great Ealing comedy Passport to Pimlico. Passport to Havering, anyone? 😬
How soon he became Reform's second newest MP
No one in Havering wants this apart from him and dont they dont want to be 'Essex' according to locals... its his one man view....no one's listening to him
