Delighted that Boris Johnson's star has fallen so far in the subsequent years that there is absolutely no chance this will be nicknamed "Borisopolis" or the like, which was clearly what he was hoping.

That Ian Visits link is interesting. It is a relevant question what this new V&A is actually for, as it doesn't have a different remit to the South Kensington one, and unlike the Dundee one, or the Tate outposts or the IWM in Salford isn't serving a different part of the country either.

Can imagine it'll be busy next Saturday too - West Ham are playing at home and I expect a lot of their fans will swing by the V&A beforehand, a lot of crossover there.

Didn't intend to visit today as we assumed it would be packed. But walking through the park (we live nearby) there was no queue at all and so we popped in. It was no busier inside than say the British Museum Samurai exhibition. But that was at about 11 am - presumably it might get much busier this afternoon. The view from the third floor terrace is very good and there are some interesting things on exhibition but I'm saving a proper look for midweek.

Looks nice.
On a completely unrelated note: I've heard of getting ones ducks in a row, but never ones swans! :D |

Mikey, I'd even argue that the original V&A has always seemed to me to be the same mish-mash of random 'stuff' on display that Ian describes the new V&A as being. So I'd argue, no change there!

I genuinely think the building is hideous
