Here’s to the next 18 years!
Congratulations!
Happy Blogaversary DG.

I'd like to nominate you for an MBE for services to knowledge and discourse, although I suspect you might refuse it on principle.
Happy bloggaversary (vomit). No idea how you’ve kept it up so long, it’s nice to see you’re still going when the rest of us (cough) lost the will many years ago. Congrats on making it to 18. :)
Bloody marvellous, thank you
You are a bit of a legend. Well done.
WHOA! Mate, you are the best. How you keep this up without losing your mind is beyond me! Congrats! :)
Happy Blogday!
Good going DG.

How do you plan for this blog?

That would be a good article. I gather you build up articles then release them.

dg writes: Entirely incorrect.
And here's to another 18 years, DG. Congratulations to what you've achieved.
Congratulations!

I'm glad you like writing the blog 'cos I like reading it. Not only is it a part of my start the day ritual but I can never be bored in a world where your back-catalogue of postings is available to be gleaned through and engross me all over again...

Thanks and keep up the good work!
Amazing! What’s the secret of this longevity?
Congratulations, here's to the next 18 years...
Congratulations! I hope your blog continues for another 18 years.
...by which time I'd be 73, having started when I was 37.
Remarkable dedication. Quite an achievement.
Thank you.
Congratulations and here’s to the next 18. Thanks for a not to be missed daily treat.
Happy Blogday 🎂
Congratulations DG that's an achievement and a half. Thanks for all those posts I enjoy with my morning coffee. For the next 18 I'm going to try and up my comment game, which might be tough as who know's when I'll be on the Eurostar to St. P again.
Congratulations DG, excellent stuff. Read with an early morning cuppa, your blog is a highlight of my day,
Not only have you been doing it for 18 years but you've been doing it to a high standard. Congratulations.
Happy blog anniversary!

"All the roads are full of once-a-week grannies driving painfully slowly to church, or once-a-year bikers who've forgotten how to ride since the last time the sun was shining."

Hardly imaginable that was life viewed from E3 eighteen years ago. It sounds like my rural home town today, and without much exaggeration.
You’re simply the best.
Better than all the rest ....
To add my thanks for the work you put in - and the powered imagination behind all of it, observing what we only see, and listening when we only hear.

I hope you still enjoy doing this, and feel what we (your readers and commenters) feel about how you make our days. Even when you edit down my long comments, I still love this blog and its audience - lockdown would have been far, far worse without you and the others who give us food for thought daily.

Very best wishes
Congratulations and thanks so much!
Congratulations and many thanks. The blog gets even better every year.
Many happy returns. Thanks for the continuously interesting posts.
Happy Birthday Blog! Thanks for all the interesting article, photos and stories which has kept me entertained through the years - here's to more!
Congratulations on a fantastic achievement.
I look forward to reading your blog everyday, thank you so much for your hard work and dedication.
Best wishes on your latest 18th.
Happy birthday DG. This also means I've been a reader for nigh on 13 years - eek!
Bon anniversaire and thanks.

"How you keep this up without losing your mind is beyond me!"

Surely you lost it ages ago didn't youñ Happens to the best of us. Admirable understatement too in the post itself.

Congratulations on the blog's coming of age. A fantastic achievement.

I love this blog and make reading it a part of my daily routine. You never know what you're going to get when you open it, a bus stop M update, report of a day out, a museum or park.

Please do keep up the good work.
I mentioned the blog's 18th birthday on Twitter and got over 100 likes ❤️️, which was lovely.

I note that 85% of those respondents were male and only 15% female (insomuch as a gender construct can be construed from empirical data).
Happy birthday to the blog! Reading what you were up to 18 years ago makes me wish I'd made the short trip from campus to George Court sooner!
Congratulations on your amazing output of interesting, unusual and sometimes quirky daily posts. You make my breakfast coffee so much more enjoyable.
Wow!
Now I'm wondering...is there any other blog still alive on the internet which has been posted daily for so long? And maintained by a single person, too!
(belated) happy blogday, it's been fun watching you grow up!
Congratulations, and thank you. Probably one of the best blogs in the world.
Well done
Congrats on the milestone!
Many happy returns!
Well done! You are the start of my day as well. Thank you and keep up the good work
Quite a milestone. Congratulations. I do enjoy the variety, never sure exactly what you are going to dip into when I open you blog. Hope you continue to enjoy it and we get the reading pleasure for years to come. Cheers
Congratulations on your blog 'coming of age'. I've been reading the blog for about 8 years and it's always interesting.
I consider myself lucky to have discovered your blog many years ago. I usually read it in the morning wherever I may be in the world. Thank you very much.
Happy Birthday, Blog!

Thanks for being my reliable breakfast companion for the past...not quite 18 years but close.
Happy Birthday, Blog!
Savior of dull office hours for more than 12 years for me, and being that steady reminder that I should see how I can change my life for the last couple of them.
Just reread the entry for 22nd September 2002, where you praised living in the city. Quite interesting reading it in times like these, with people flooding back to the country.
An amazing achievement. Thank you for giving so many of us so much pleasure and stuff to think about over the years. Another 18 years and you'll only be 73. Easy!
Thank you for all the good times.
Congratulations on your coming of age
Belated happy anniversary and thank you for all those years of fascination. Long may they continue.
Happy 18th Blog day! I believe a key is customary for one's 18th, let us imagine that in this instance, this key opens a building in London that you've always wanted to visit but haven't been able to thus far.

Cripes, this means that later this month I'll have been reading you daily for 17 years! It's quite the achievement that the lockdown has not affected your ability to post interesting, nay fascinating content, every single day. Thank you. Here's to many years more, and I'll make sure to bring cake for the 21st : )
Wow and massive congratulations. You started just after me apparently but more importantly carried on (and didn't miss out the occasional year or so).

Seriously impressed DG. Long may it continue.
I wonder where does DG ranks in the list of the most long-standing public blogs by a single author. Or perhaps total number of consecutive days of blog posts by a single author. I would wager DG is #1 for the latter.

dg writes: I wouldn't bet on it.
Thank you DG, and congratulations. That is a remarkable achievement - especially in this day and age where images, video and tweets rule supreme.

My experience of living in London post-Olympics would definitely be poorer without your daily adventures.
Happy anniversary DG. I rarely comment, but I would like you to know how much pleasure I get from reading your brilliant blog. Best wishes.
Congratulations. Been visiting for quite a few years now and especially like your observational posts from bus rides etc.

You should be chuffed that you give so much pleasure to so many people. Not only that, but you educate and inform.

Many thanks for all your work. A blog to be proud of.
Wow! Seriously impressive. My belated congratulations to you Sir!
Many Happy Returns, blog!
A great achievement and thank you for providing something to look forward to every day. The readership gender profile is curious: I find the tone and manner of prose un-bloke-y and what I consider widely appealing.
Congratulations DG. An excellent body of work.
Always interesting, sometimes funny but never to be missed knowing there is someone in London like diamond geezer helped me through the lockdown

Congrats on 18 th
Just managed to get to read the news about the special day/anniversary. What an achievement. Well done and many thanks for the useful information, for the laughs, for the great photos, and for helping to keep me sane since I retired. Very much appreciated.
Just to add my congratulations from another
Long time reader.
Thanks for all the excellent content.
Please keep going!
Congratulations! What an achievement! I got hooked 16 years ago when I was a youngster of 66.
Congratulations!
Catching up after a busy week. Congrats DG!
Think I started reading in 2009 (when I lived in E3), which is more than half the lifetime of this blog ago.
Here's to the next 18 years!
