I would often cycle to Nonsuch Park when I was a young boy as it was not to far away from where I was living, this was usually followed by a further excursion on the bike to Epsom Downs for a drink of Tizer and a cheese sandwich that mum had duly packed for me.

I'd cycled through Cheam a few times recently and wondered why that park had such an odd name. So now I know. Never expected the reason to be so illustrious though

The motto of Epsom and Ewell is "None Such". What a shame the palace has gone, though.

What an astonishing bit of history. Thank you D.G.
I think the photo of the dog mess bin is the topper. (that's just the sort of detail most history leaves out!)

Perhaps the ghost of King Henry probably has to clean it out weekly as a form of everlasting penance.

It certainly sounds that had Nonsuch Palace been standing today, it would've certainly given Hampton Court a run for its money.

Of course, the area in and around London has many such palaces and mansions which have since disappeared. A good example is Banqueting House in Whitehall, which is the only remaining part of the Palace of Whitehall. The rest of the palace burnt down in the 17th century.

Mmmm. Color!

er, i mean, "Colour!". sorry.

I was wondering about the colour and I get it - St. George's Day!

Aha! The XTC album cover makes sense now...
