Years ago they uncovered a load of old BR posters at Richmond station. These were from 1985/6 when the station was modernised. As far as I know they're still in situ.

I remember lots of TV and Radio advertising for Capitalcards in the 1980s.
They gave you 'The Power to Swan anround London'. |

I remember the LT Red Rover, Twin Rover and Green Rover tickets. Or how about that exotic species - the Golden Rover.

Living in a tubeless area at the time, the One Day Capitalcard was a massive thing for me when it was launched.

Wondering how long it took you to persuade that bottom left hand corner to "come loose" :)
|
|
Ooh, what a find!
Did you do a little 'whoop'?! |

I found the 1947 ad interesting as a measure of real terms price increases. 1/2lb of brisket at Tesco currently costs £2.95, whilst a single fare off peak fare in zone 1 is £2.70. So maybe the underground hasn't got that much more expensive after all.

The bottom left corner was loose last week - one of the other ones underneath is offering £1.50 tickets for Snoopy the Musical.

2010: Have you remembered to set your Oyster Extension Permit?

Daveid76 - they were certainly there on Tuesday this week

Chris W - I think the adverts are DG’s imaginings

1982: Please explain.

Still there today.

Ah.. contactless....
Sorry, in my experience, the biggest sca m going. Several times (according to TfL), I have "magically" exited the Underground without swiping (and so been charged the maximum): despite there being barriers, and I needed to swipe to open them. Refuse to use it now. |
