Thanks. Which of them is currently up and running? And what are the start dates for those that aren't?
All are now running except SL2,3,4 and 5
No idea about when they will open, except that SL4 will have to wait for completion of the Silvertown Tunnel |
SL2 is launching Mar 2nd 2024
SL3 is launching Feb 24th 2024 SL5 is launching Feb 3rd 2024 |
We get posters telling us about Tube fares in Zone 1 out in Uxbridge, so pointless adverts are a long-established thing. From what I gather it's deliberate policy rather than just carelessness.
I wonder what the metric will be to measure if the SL bus concept is a success or not. If ridership doesnt appear the first thing to happen will be lots of advertising to raise public awareness on local buses & shelters. If that doesnt work frequencies & routes will be tweaked. Then if its deemed a failure it will be quietly closed down leaving the remaining successful routes rebranded as Express Buses
It probably wouldn't be hard to create a radial in Havering to link with the SL2 so presumably the reasoning behind its lack of connectivity is either 1. money, 2. insufficient demand or 3. apathy!
There was/is one at the top of Fairfield Road E3
No different l suppose to the poster on Chesham station telling local people what the Mayor of London was “doing” for them!
Cornish Cockney - another possible reason is that Havering already has fast radial connections to Superloop, provided by the Elizabeth Line, District Line and (from Upminster) c2c. Admittedly, those connections aren't included in the "Hopper" fare.
Your excellent first map highlights what I've thought from the start, which is that many of the Superloop orbital routes don't actually serve outer London, barely touching the boroughs of Harrow, Enfield and Barking & Dagenham, never mind missing Havering completely.
If I say it, will you get a Crème Egg?
You’ve gone super-loopy nuts! |
We have a bus shelter in Collier Row, Havering surrounded by fields with a Superloop advert.
These Superloop routes are just the beginning. They will be such a success that there will irresistible demands for more routes outside and inside the current planned (non-)circuit.
Kim - The Mayor of London is doing something for the good folk of Chesham - he is, bizarrely, responsible for their rail service.
If only the same were true of Kingston.... |
Superloop routes in order of length:
(according to my inaccurate map) 1) SL7 (21 miles) 2) SL3/SL8 (12½ miles) 4) SL2/SL6 (11 miles) 6) SL9 (10 miles) 7) SL1/SL4/SL10 (8½ miles) 10) SL5 (7½ miles) |
Took a very un-express SL1 recently which barely managed 30 on the 50mph North Circular. Should really be called limited stop and not express!
