At last!
Am I right in thinking that the path from Greenway gate into the park had a pontoon over the river when it crossed under the railway bridge?
Lovely to see it all open at last, it's amazing it's taken so long.

Do you know if there are any plans to open a footpath along St Thomas Creek (which would provide a nice alternative to walking down Stratford High Street)?
A decade! Love the before / after Flickr photos - super interesting.
"If you got security frisked at the Greenway Gate, that was here."

I think that was me. That grey blob next to the Greenway on the right edge of your map was the public coach park during the Games, wasn't it?
I'm very pleased to see this finally reopened. Since the house I grew up in is about 100 metres away from The Greenway, walking along it was a key part of my childhood. Also, I have been planning to walk the whole length of it at some point and I think I now have a date for it.
"Greenway"...and still they don't plant substantial amounts of trees. we are leaving it too late...given projected forecasts of population increase, pollution and city temperature rises.
The Greenway is a path laid on top of a Victorian sewer pipe. Planting trees isn't an option.
Can't believe I missed DG being on the radio in 2009
Do we know if they’ll ever open the tunnel at the end of the Blaker road tow path - or is it permanently sealed off?
I did that section of the Capital Ring along the Greenway last year, and to be honest found it slightly creepy, especially as you went further east!

Handy if you live out there, but I'm not sure I'd especially want to do it again
Now the Greenway is open, maybe West Ham is no longer one of the stations whose name misleads football spectators.
What has not been lost completely is the whiff that was detectable along this stretch of the Greenway as far as Abbey Lane.Considering what passes beneath your feet it was not unpleasant. Just one of those smells that resurrect memories, a bit like fresh seaweed on a beach.
Thanks DG,

The Greenway wikipedia page has been duly updated with photos from the newly opened section of the pathway.
