So not Keston or Plumstead after all, but Shirley! |
Aha! Windmills: Upminster, Wimbledon, Shirley and now presumably on to Barnet Gate. Good one! |
It's quite a quixotic trip you're on, from Upminster to Wimbledon to Shirley and (I'm willing to bet) finally Barnet. I wish I could follow you for the final installment, but it's midnight in Japan and I need to sleep. Thank you for the puzzle!
(It was the "litter-free green space" that gave the game away. That just HAD to be the Wombles, and everything else followed.) |
Well done Alfie. BP lived in the Wimbledon mill while he wrote Scouting for Boys (you would be arrested if you wrote something with that title now!). |
Post haste is presumably a cryptic reference to the the windmill which is located in Postmill Close. However it isn't a postmill. The road name refers to the previous windmill on the site - or someone just cocked up, take your pick. |
Previously surrounded by John Ruskin Sixth Form College. |
I love windmills, and remember the Shirley one from my childhood. We have two in Reigate, one is used as a house at Wray Common, and the other one is used as a Church and is in the grounds of Reigate Golf Club. You have spurred me on to go out and take some photos. Thanks. |
