I have received a variety of responses at front desks, when I hand over my Art Card for free or reduced entry. What is consistent is that they have seldom been as warm or welcoming as to those around me wielding cash, or cards.
I enjoyed this little sketch.

As for the Lady In Temporary Cafe, it would be good for all concerned if this little ballet could be made unnecessary. If we could just change the rules, so that remaining seated until and unless a customer has said something could cease to be considered "rude", and just treated as normal energy-saving behaviour.
Mrs T and I visited Dulwich using a 2for1 offer from London Midland Trains a couple of years back. And we paid cash. Both behaviours seemed to elicit more than a tad of disdain, twitching of the nostrils, handling of banknotes by the merest of fingertips, theatrically elaborate searches for coins as change etc. The toilets were good, but we won't be going back.
@Mister T - i think you may have been unlucky. i go to DPG fairly regularly using an ArtFund card, and they are fine about it. it sounded like DG got a reasonably warm welcome on arrival too !
Didn't sound too welcoming to me. Surely if they're going to open to the public during an exhibition changeover they need to offer a visitor experience which is as good as it can be. Detail is key when it comes to good hospitality.
Whenever I've used my Art Pass there, the staff have all been very polite and friendly. In fact that goes for everywhere I've used my Art Pass.
