Marvellous stuff. I didn't know *any* of that. And I'm excited to learn from the map that the Neckinger may have passed directly under my old flat on Bartholomew Street, Borough. |
What M@ said - I'm really interested in finding out more about this curiously named lost river and have been ever since I first visited the BBC (not Auntie) at Neckinger a few years back. |
Looks, form the photos, like you had a glorious day to go river spotting. |
There's a housing estate called the Neckinger Estate that the train into London Bridge goes past. I hadn't realised it was named after a river.
I'm looking forward to reading the next installment. By the way, I think you've got the photos for the second and third millstreams the wrong way round. dg writes: Oops, yes, now swapped, thanks. |
I´m happy that you go on in your lost rivers journey and I´m looking forward for more. Thanks. |
Hello!
Just discovered your blog as I'm doing a huge project on te lost rivers of London. I work at the Old Vic Theatre and was told that once, during a storm the underground bar flooded mysteriously, as if coming from below. Perhaps a sign of a Neckinger tribituary? |
