Never been much of a crossword fan so nearly skipped today's blog when I saw it. Fortunately I paused and discovered it's my sort of crossword. Even got 14 down!

Re 10 across. Andrew is generally considered the patron saint of Ukraine (as well as of Russia), although recently the cause of St George has been adopted by the Russian invaders. The orange and black ribbons that are sometimes worn, for example, are known as St George's ribbons (and are illegal in Ukraine).
Safer to say "patron saint of Georgia" , I reckon(although his primary feast day there is 23 November) |
Just the right level for my lurgy-filled head today!

16A - Irene Cara
|
3D - GEORGE
This year, St George's Day will actually be celebrated on 28 April, because the traditional date of 23 April falls within the Easter Octave! |
Weird. "DONALD" doesn't seem to fit in any of these.
