I took my grandchildren on it last November, on a lovely autumn day. The kids had a great time! (Incidentally, I had to queue up, since a Freedom Pass only gets you reduced rate; my kids, with their oyster cards, didn't.)

That wasn't the whole day out - we went on to the Cutty Sark after lunch.
I think, DG, that's the most positive piece I've seen you do on the dangleway.

dg writes: Apologies. All the negatives still stand.
Surely only Oyster users with pay as you go credit can board without going to booth or machines - for those of us who only have oyster travelcards you still need to get a ticket as if you don't have PAYG credit there is no way the barriers can charge you?

dg writes: Agreed. Have updated post, thanks.
I am slightly surprised TfL have not tweaked the system at the Dangleway to allow contactless bank cards to be used on the gates. The fare structure is relatively simple and outside the capping mechanism so it is just a variant of what happens on a bus. This might help to reduce the queues - assuming visitors have a compatible bank card.

It is also a surprise that TfL's updated publicity does not reference the Crystal. Given Siemens funded the recent glowing report on how good London's transport system is it's intriguing TfL haven't referenced their main public exhibition space in London.
Have the Crystal opening hours expanded recently? It has always been closed (only the cafe open) when I have been past before at weekends but the website claims Tues-Sun 10-5pm?
Unlikely to want to visit ExCeL even when there's something on? Why, in the past few months I've been to the Cisco Live show and the Fibre to the Home Council show.
Oh, I see what you mean.
An article says: "Earlier this year, reports stated that Emirates Air Line was losing approximately £50,000 per week due to its £150,000 operating costs."...
