Still aggrieved to have been a losing Only Connect semi finalist the series before the introduction of the 3rd place playoff.
Well, I'm aggrieved to have learned the result of the second semi-final before I've had a chance to watch it!
Proof positive of the shortcomings of AI!
Lamp-posts always grey or black? LED fixtures using bulbs?? Think again, sunshine!
I'm ambivalent about Nick Grimshaw (I've quite enjoyed the stand-ins and wonder why Deb Grant didn't get the slot full-time), but very much looking forward to Lauren Laverne coming back. I was never into raves even at the time so I won't miss Mary Ann Hobbs and her bangers.
Has your age ever matched your house number? Mine has once, between 2019 and 2020 when I lived at no.34.
That list of Blue Peter cats is a depressing sign of my advancing years :-)

6 cats have been on the show since I last watched it.
That's got me wondering which accented "E"s are used by which languages (disregarding names of people)

Social historians of the far future will value this post (and your blog in general), if only there was a way of ensuring generational/centennial preservation of this digital artefact (given that much of your source material is very unlikely to be preserved).
Surely (sorry!) the chemical symbol for potassium is K.

dg writes: never risk a surely.
Worse, Mikey, Blue Peter hasn’t had a cat since 2013.
Sorry, I misunderstood your paragraph. Yoy are quite correct.

Sorry about the surely and I must deeply apologise - you remain correct in the use of that word also.

Should the final letters of Kentucky and New Jersey be treated as vowels or consonants?
Where I live 'y' is a vowel. But we havent the french distorsion of our language that you have had...

I can never find the tomato ketchup flavour locally - but it's not worth travelling to get.

Wendy got through as a hurricane name.

caulkhead - I'm not sure it's the win you think it is, I suspect most normies would describe the part producing the light as 'the bulb' and LED bulbs are a thing now anyway.

The exception might be florescent tubes, but LEDs have replaced them as well, but do you call them LED tubes instead.
Never expected to find myself in DG list. Definitely the most fun OC match.
No Marmite on the crisp list prompted me to check, and Mr Unilever has signed with Tayto (northern mob) to bring us crisps and tortillas with - sigh - ‘shareable’ packs of “a new and improved flavour profile.. great for the ‘first-timers’ who are a bit unsure.”

Waiting for the lights on the Marylebone Road, one’s eyes drift to the adjacent lamp post and the four digit numbers. Good old 0013, there as always..
Dagenham Dock would like a word about your first list.

dg writes: added, thanks.
The children's programmes on BBC1 after school looks a bit short, and Genome confirms that there was indeed another programme scheduled between Bananaman and Newsround. However, that was something called Fonz and the Happy Days Gang, a cartoon of which I have no memory whatsoever.
Hills in the City of London: Cornhill?
Ludgate Hill.

dg writes: already listed.
I have been to fourteen national eisteddfodau, but only six of them are on today's list. This does include Newport in 1988, however, which was my first.
I suspect DG has taken the names of hills from a street gazetteer. He has included anything where the last word was 'hill'. As Cornhill is not Corn Hill that was omitted. However, I cannot explain away Ludgate Hill.

What made this list not boring (as least some of them) is working out how on earth some of these lists were created. I suspect at least two involved finding a suitable dataset and bit of programming as did, probably, the prime number one.
I live in one of those states ending in consonant (mostly Democrats, thankfully) which also happens to share the name of a station on the Elizabeth line.
Some great ideas there for the Connections round on Only Connect.
"House numbers I've lived in" must be the most useless and meaningless list you located :)
Greenland is geographically part of North America. Politically it's a self-ruling Danish territory, not a sovereign country.
In the matter of solar eclipses I'd have gone by geography rather than ownership.
Not seen Pickled Onion Walkers in a very long time - was a joy back at Uni. Shame they got rid of Worcestershire Sauce flavour.
