Didn't you do this quiz once before? It might have been a few years ago but I'm sure I remember coming here and reading about this puzzle.

dg writes: Yes, I did, but there were more than 11 lines back then, so there are different solutions now.

Afraid I had to cheat a bit with the sub-surface lines, but I see George did something similar.

Farringdon
(Hammersmith & City)
Barbican
(Metropolitan)
Moorgate
(Northern)
Bank
(Waterloo & City)
Waterloo
(Jubilee)
Westminster
(District)
St. James's Park
(Circle)
Victoria
(Victoria)
Green Park
(Piccadilly)
Piccadilly Circus
(Bakerloo)
Oxford Circus
(Central)
Tottenham Court Road

I found the one by George, by george, but went the opposite direction.

Warren St - Oxford Circ - Piccadilly Circ - Green Park - Westminster - Embankment - Waterloo (on the Northern) - Bank - Liverpool St - Moorgate (on the Met) - Barbican (on the Circle) - Farringdon (on the H&C)

I tried this in 2005 but the ELL made it impossible.

This is of course the key to the "all lines" tube challenge, which can easily be done in under an hour - indeed the record was under an hour even when the ELL had to be included!

I believe the record for 11 lines is about 33 minutes: I've done it in 46 minutes without really trying.

I'm not giving away my preferred route, but some possibilities include:
Kings Cross, Euston Square, GPS, Baker Street, Bond Street, OXO,Green Park, Pccadilly Circus, Charing Cross,Embankment, Waterloo, Bank/Monument, Tower Hill

You could also start further on, at Euston Square, GPS or Baker Street, and add one or more of the Circle, Met and H&C on the end instead.

You could also start at Finchley Road and go Baker Street, Edgware Road, Baker Street, Bond Street etc.

Moorgate, Liv St, Aldgate, Tower Hill, Monument/Bank, Waterloo, Embankment, Charing Cross, Picadilly Circus, Green Park, Bond Street, Oxford Circus, Warren Street(or Green Park again) is another

Akldgate or Aldgate East, Liv Street, Moorgate (or Farringon, Barbican Moorgate, or indeed Moorgate - Bbc/LivS - Mgt) then, Bank, Waterloo, Westminster, St James Pk, Victoria, Green park, Piccadilly Circus, OXO, Bond Street (or TCR)

Barbican, Moorgate, Liv St, Bank, Wloo, Westminster,St James Pk, Victoria, Green park, Picc Circ, Charing X, Leicster Sq or Ebkt

Victoria
Green Park
Piccadilly Circus
Charing Cross
Embankment (on Northern)
Westminster (on District)
Waterloo
Bank
Liverpool Street
Moorgate, Barbican, Farringdon on each of the three lines through them.

Not going to even try - just want to take the comments up to 11...! I knew DG wouldn't let us down.

And there I was thinking that because it was coming along "at the obvious time", the quiz would be about war memorials in or immediately outside tube stations..... dg?

Clever! I wondered what you'd do to mark the special date, being Tube Week! Also noted the time the quiz was posted!

Leicester Sq
Picc Circ (Piccadilly)
Oxford Circ (Bakerloo)
Green Park (Victoria)
Westminster (Jubilee)
Embankment (District)
Waterloo (Northern)
Bank (W&City)
Liverpool St (Central)
Moorgate (Met)
Barbican (Circle)
Farringdon (H&C)

... Which is pretty similar to others. But I didn't peek.

@ timbo - if you adapted the end of your first route you could also add in the DLR and East London Line via Shadwell and Whitechapel to gain the District Line at that point. It ever so slightly breaks DG's rules about street interchanges at Shadwell.

I tried really hard to find one without same-line interchanges (e.g. Notting Hill Gate to Bayswater on the District and then Bayswater to Paddington on the Circle), which sort of felt like cheating; could anyone else find such a route? This is the best I could do, which only did that once:

start at St. James's Park
District Line to Victoria
Victoria Line to Green Park
Piccadilly Line to Piccadilly Circus
Bakerloo Line to Charing Cross
Northern Line to Embankment
Circle Line to Westminster
Jubilee Line to Waterloo
Waterloo & City Line to Bank
Central Line to Liverpool St
Hammersmith & City Line to Moorgate
Metropolitan Line to Barbican
