South Ealing!
That's the five-voweller.
Now, how about the nine fours? |
Just beat me to it - but whilst looking for it I found Earls Court
Southfields
Wimbledon Park
North Ealing
Swiss Cottage
Roding Valley
Southgate
Colindale
Finchley Road
That's the lot!
5 vowels South Ealing 4 vowels Colindale Earl's Court Finchley Road North Ealing Roding Valley Southfields Southgate Swiss Cottage Wimbledon Park |
I imagine the answer will be no but I will ask the question anyway. Is there any stations without any vowels in their name?
Not on the Tube, but there is Bryn on the line between Wigan and St Helens
Rhyl is another. There are probably lots more in Wales.
Only two more I can find in Wales - Tygwyn and Tywyn, both on the Cambrian Coast line. Also "Brwm" on the Heart of Wales Line, (known as Broome to the locals in Shropshire)
Do I get a B+ for South Ealing and seven out of nine without recourse to a map?
If you look at consonants in tube station names, Knightsbridge holds the record for six in a row. Possibly the record for any English word.
I saved this until the end of tube week in case you were planning on moving from vowels to consonants, DG. Thanks for another good tube week! |
