I did not visit any mills this year, however as part of the Mills Weekend several mills operated a radio station which is only on the air for the event.
I did listen out for and hear several "Mills on the Air". The link gives a list of the mills that were on the air this year.

I have to second DG's otherwise innocuous looking comment about it being up a cul-de-sac in a Brooksidesque setting.

A few weeks ago, I happened to have to attend a meeting at a school situated on the main road adjacent to the cul-de-sac and had been told to park there.

Nothing could have prepared me for what immediately came into view on turning into said road.

The totally unexpected vista and sheer size of this windmill set so close to a typical street scene was difficult to comprehend. I was both baffled and amazed.

Having previously lived near the one on Wimbledon Common, I thought it was unique to London, I now know better.

Oh, and I will be in Holland next weekend. Serendipity - and this happens to be my favourite English word, pamplemousse (grapefruit) being my French one.

Seen that mill a few times. It was in the grounds of John Ruskin School which I went to.
The vandals at Croydon Council flogged the school to property developers who built the affordable (for millionaires) homes you see now.

Oh, God, I'm going to be pedantic again. It can't have been the last windmill to be built before mechanisation took over. Windmills are mechanical. What you mean, I hope, is steam.
