Meanwhile in my hyperlocal news, someone has stolen the hanging basket outside the butcher's in The Square. They must have climbed up on the pillar box and edged along a first floor windowsill to nab it. That's some effort for an arrangement of geraniums and petunias....
"If you want to tell the Post Office where to stick their plans, or praise them to the skies, the consultation runs until 18th September. And then the big change takes place in October." - i.e. we'll consult with you (because we have to) and then do what we planned to do anyway....
If the Bow Road to A12 North slip road is closed, what's the recommended alternate route?
I spent last Saturday in precisely this area, attending a course in the industrial estate opposite the church. I was resigned to having to pop into McDonald's for lunch but was pleasantly surprised to discover the Cafe in the Bow Arts Centre - great flapjacks.

And I noticed a place called the Mayor's Parlour in the old Municipal Building, which looked like it does proper pizzas in an interesting gallery/art space, but the cafe is only open till 6 on weekdays, so I'm unlikely to be able to try it out any time soon.
Are you sure that the Post Office will actually be open for those opening hours? I've seen Post Office counters in shops having shorter opening hours than the shop itself.
@Mess siah

That's certainly true of my local sub-post office. A side effect of this is that it is the only local newsagent where you can't buy any postage stamps (except in PO hours).
I am still trying to decide if it should be hyperlocal or hypolocal.
If only this was still next to the Kings Arms.
A late addendum to Waterhouse's comment:
'Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was "Oh no, not again".' - Douglas Adams
