So where do I think he is? In the UK, more than 100 miles from Bow, so west or north of an arc through Bournemouth, Bristol, Birmingham and the Wash. Over 10 miles from a station, which rules out much of England south of Leeds. And the sort of place you might go on holiday in May, so maybe not Cape Wrath. I'm guessing north Cornwall, maybe Padstow.

I think Chris may have nailed it - the Cotswolds would be a very likely destination just over 100 miles from London and with few trainlines. One of my favourite places - enjoy.
