The last paragraphs reminded me of James Joyce. Glorious evocative writing!
Walked from Blackfriars to Wapping myself yesterday morning.

Enjoyed the variety of the new section.

Just one man asleep, probably because it was really warm at the point.
Nice write up of your journey. I walked the opposite way across the City on Thursday evening, but stuck to the streets and didn't think about walking along the river (though I have done it many times in the past). I shall have to make a trip next time I am in the London office to check out the new passage.
Hooray! That's the second bit of the Thames Path that has opened up in the last few months - just before I've reached it on my walk along its length!
Oystergate Walk is featured in the concluding scene of the half-baked London restaurant film Burnt (2014). Clearly someone was inspired, however since the film is a bit crap they weren't inspired quite enough.
Hoping to trigger a creme egg, [on this most appropiate day] by applauding your not calling the dragon a gryphon.
Thank you, DG. I followed in your footsteps this morning in glorious sunshine and it was indeed a nice walk.
A lovely post. This is amongst my clutch of regular walks whenever I'm in London and so I must have been doing it for 25+ years. Despite not being local it's really nice to realise that I recognise exactly where you are on the walk from just a few brief words of your description.
