I wonder if you can resist a brief trip over to Malmö.
High taxes *but* low inequality? Surely as high taxes aid redistribution then it's high taxes hence low inequality?
I apologise for not using the conjunction you would have used.
It's also surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly) xenophobic, according to my parents who lived there for three years, and according to the fact that they reintroduced border controls during the refugee crisis. Ultimately they're not too unlike us...
I salute your use of the universal unit of measurement - Wales.
Denmark can be under serious threat if global warming intensifies. In some sense they are even more exposed to the sea than the Netherlands.
And next week I'll be doing a bike race around it! rounddenmarkbikerace.dk
Have commuted to CPH a lot over the last 3 years due to my clients being based there. Lovely place. Interesting to see how DG's trip pans out.

And yes, my flights per year are somewhat over DG's lifetime total.
Denmark the perfect bike country. I wish you Gav success on on your rounddenmarkbikerace, I also hope you get good weather.

Denmark is in far more danger from rising sea levels than the Netherlands, no Delta plan and an even flatter country 😟
Coe-pn-hay-gn was the usual British English pronunciation. But there seems to be a gradual trend for English pronunciation of elsewhere placenames to drift, gradually and erratically, nearer to the local pronunciation (or what Brits think is the local pronunciation). Sometimes this has weird results (like Munich said with the ch from "loch").
...so that Munich rhymes with Leipzig
Remember going to Denmark on a Scouts exchange visit in the Seventies and gave the family I stayed plenty of amusement trying to pronounce supposedly the most difficult word to pronounce in the Danish language ; R0D GR0D MED FL0DE. Never even got close to pronouncing it properly. It's a jelly-like fruit dessert.
richard - because the D in all those words is like nothing in other languages - it might as well be silent if you can't do the proper glottalisation/laryngealisation. It is slightly like the London multiculti pronunciation of the T in letter/little (le'er / li'l)
