Calling the Barking & Dagenham A13 Artscape project "innovative" is a very polite way of putting it. (I imagine it helps if you don't pay LBB&D council tax)

The two "highlights" of it for me are (a) the place where they knocked down (a not terribly pleasant) pub, "The Volunteer", to put up a lil metal box with holes in and flashing lights.
and

(b) the "sculpture" (representing a highway driving off into eternity) at the twin roundabout where the new A13 separates from the old (now A1306) at Goresbrook interchange - although by far the best thing about it is the nickname that the locals have given it, "madonna's tits" (think of the pointy bra she wore in the "Vogue" video)

But yeah, that was real urban regeneration, wasn't it , "holding pattern" was just exactly the thing that the Becontree estate was missing before, that everyone there cried out for...

How do you have time for all this research? I presume that like most bloggers you are not getting paid for this, have a full time job doing something else, and fit this into a small part of your day?

I have been reading all your London / numbers posts and have been amazed by how much research you seem to have put in.

Apparently, thirteen daily national newspapers are based in London, and the Tower of London has thirteen towers within its inner walls (with another six within the outer walls).

For your information, Junction 25 of the M25 is only just in Greater London - the border with Herts goes around its northern edge.

13 buildings and structures taller then london eye?

Thanks for the Billy Bragg "A 13 - trunk road to the sea reminder" far too long since I listened to that fond slice of silliness.
