I should give up on Becks and shift your consumption to real ale. St Austell Tribute, or Sharps Doom Bar would be good for starters.
Do you have a particular bottled beer in mind to replace Becks for count number 6? Would you like some recommendations?
Any change to my alcohol count needs to be to something less specific, and therefore more widely available. And it won't be ale.
Vodka shots?

Personally I find Moves too intrusive and prefer Pedometer++

Great stuff DG - love the stats !
'respective birthdays'? have I missed your big one? I did just try and look back through the blog to find the day you discussed it [and calculate it from there] but have failed miserably...
I know when it comes to the mystery count most of us are thinking of times DG gets sexy with a lady but I just had a thought, could it be the number of times DG goes to the cinema. I mean he has just said Saturday is the most likely day for it to uptick and when I was younger Saturday was generally the day you went to the movies, they even wrote a song about it.
football matches most often occur on a Saturday.....just saying.
Less specific? Well, how about just counting bottles of beer (if that is your tipple of choice) rather than bottles of a specific brand?
...it not the cinema ;)
...it not football match ;(
@PJS
put "bus 49" (or "bus 48", "bus 47".....etc) in the search field. DG's birthday appears to be in about ten day's time.
Most likely to occur on a Saturday eh?

Damn, that's blown my long held belief that the Mystery Count was days off work sick then!
@barry

....or maybe with a man?

Mystery Count could be anything -
- number of times DG met royalty
- number of times DG crossed the equator
- number of times DG was arrested
- number of times he was identified by one of his loyal public ("you are DG and I claim my £5")

Maybe the Mystery Count is the number of people who guess what the Mystery Count is counting?
Hmm. How on earth is a correct mystery count guess more likely to occur on a Saturday?

I don't subscribe to the sex theory. But I do subscribe to the idea that DG had every intention, when he devised the mystery count, of observing how many people would think it had to do with sex. With that in mind, he had to make it something else.
I have just realised what the Mystery Count might be. I can't believe how long it has taken me to think of it though.
Whatever it is, I hope one day it happens - or if it doesn't, DG decides to put us out of our misery and tell us anyway, as I'd hate to go to my grave not knowing! Rather than resting in peace I'd become a restless soul wandering the earth with 'unfinished business"!
Lottery win?
not lottery win...although good guess (the Saturday statement applies to something else).
not
- number of times DG has met royalty
not
- number of times DG crossed the equator
not
- number of times DG was arrested
not
- number of times he was identified by one of his loyal public ("you are DG and I claim my £5")

clues have been given

the latest one being "Saturday is probably the most likely day"
Another year and no definite answer for the Mystery Count. DG you are a tease.
Iain, do you wish to share with the rest of the class what your idea is?
Could it be number of parliamentary trains caught?

They are most likely to happen on a Saturday.

I raise this as I was reading the list of such trains that form part of the new Northern Rail Franchise. For instance Sheffield to Chesterfield by Woodhouse or Dinting to Hadfield not by Glossop.
Perhaps you should count alcohol units rather than bottles of Becks? To go with your new pace-counting as a motivator to good health?

I think the mystery count is certainly 'companionship' related, from previous references .
