It can be embarrassing if in a park, where cricket or football are being played, the ball happens to land next to you and the players appear to expect you to return the ball to them.
If it is cricket I am not too bad at throwing a ball back, but if it's football no way, I normally make out I have not see the ball and let one of their players come and retrieve it as I am hopeless at kicking a ball straight.
I've lived in Sevenoaks all my life and love the place, even if it does mean you get the "you mean One-oak" joke any time you tell someone new, over the age of 35, where you're from...
Excellent dg. Why does it always seem to be the places nearest to where you live are the ones you never visit, but I will now, next time I'm back .
Thanks for the tip about the BoB museum.
My dad lived in West Kingsdown during the Battle of Britain. He watched as the duels were fought above and used to have to shelter from all the bits of plane, cartridge casings and occasional body came down.
They had some (illegal) chickens which were most upset when a bomb landed nearby. The next morning the hens had all died of shock.
thanks for this DG, gives me some more ideas for days out ... that cafe at Shoreham looks just too cute for words ... the museum itself reminds me a bit of a museum I stumbled across in the Martello Tower at Point Clear which had lots of bits of aeroplanes in it, it was fascinating
