Thank you. My curiosity has been sated.

By coincidence, I was in Wallington on Thursday morning. Being firmly a creature of the North and East, I'd never been there before, and I'm not 100% sure I'd even heard of it. But a nice chap down there sold me a motorbike, which means that later this week I'll heading back there to collect it. Not sure I'll bother to pop into Wallington Square, though.

I was telling my mum about your series over the Easter weekend, and excitedly wondered if my aunty’s road would feature; The Square in SM5.
Imagine my disappointment that it was deemed unworthy of comment! I thought you might mention the 300 year old outbuilding that was an orangery for a palace never built, or reveal why it is a square but only lies on a single street. Oh well, never mind. |
My apologies to your aunty. An orangery that used to be stables planned for a mansion that was never built and which was later owned by Oliver Reed does indeed sound quite interesting, but such are the perils of inadequate research. I’ve still no idea why it isn’t square though.

I wouldn’t call Superdrug Budget. Savers is their lower-end offering.

You also - rightly - missed Times Square in Sutton town centre, which is another low Budget Quotient, non-square square. For a while, the newer part was called Times 2, and I once had to post something to a business whose address was 15 Times 2, and wondered if I could abbreviate it to 30.
