I visited Bentley Priory (by bus) several years ago just before the site was to be redeveloped into housing. They had a special "final weekend event" which included a military WW2 vehicles display in the grounds. Nice to see it is open again, but there does not appear to be a lot to see now.
I agree the Uxbridge bunker is of more interest.
So many abandoned RAF bases, I think Northolt is the only site still in use by the RAF in the London area.
Having lived 2 miled from here all my life its great to see Bently Priory recognised for the part it played - unfortunatly ifthe houses weren't built then the museum probably wouldn't be there now. It's a shame that they don't even appear to teach local school children about Bently Priory.
Meant to add to the above that I grew up regularly seeing Spitfires flying to celebrate Battle of Britain day - used to bring the whole street out to watch!
Sarah, if you are local, I assume you have an explanation as to why you write Bently instead of what DG thinks it is.

I know some spellings differ where old houses are concerned.
