I went down to Cornwall for the 1999 total eclipse, only to find Cornwall had clouds!. At least it went dark, and was very eerie. When I got back it seemed that London had a better view -but no totality.
Thank you for the information about Tuesdays partial eclipse, I shall look out from my South facing window, and hope it is not cloudy.

Erm, would we say that the Channel Islands are part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland?

If I was being pedantic, I'd also note that the 4th is a bank holiday in Scotland, so a fair few folk won't be back at work.

Thanks for the advance warning!

"I could play with this all day (but then I'm sad like that)."

Nope you're not! It's fascinating!

Being 'on the line' or east of it will actually help somewhat, as the maximum coverage of the eclipse will occur below the horizon if you're to the west of it. Being in Hampshire, I intend to find a large hill to avoid this problem.

No direct hit on Littlehampton, more of a near miss. A direct hit on Goring by Sea, on the other hand... (pedants of the world, unite!)

We might not be back at work in Scotland on Tuesday, but the eclipse won't be as good. Regardless, I'll take the compromise. :-)

Ooh, Redhill, how exctiting. Must look out of the window tomorrow.

Love eclipses, so will be up for this one, hoping like mad there'll be a break in the clouds...

Further pedantry - it just misses Hither Green but is a direct hit on Lee
