Oh, that's good to know... that I'm not the only one to think the shooting venue looks like something out of Teletubbies!
I think that shooting building is hideous. We passed it when we were doing the Capital Ring, but couldn't work out what it was, or why somebody would want to plonk it there.
There's a sad side to the Thames Barrier, which I only discovered fairly recently. On the north side there's a 'Memorial Gardens' and it was created in memory of the workmen who died during the barrier's construction. Until I stumbled across it, I don't think I'd heard of any deaths there.
As regards Lesnes, one of the best times to go there is in springtime. There's mention of the daffodils on the website, but there's nothing like actually going there and seeing them for yourself.
It is great to see those leaflets. They open the eyes to London's past climates, rivers and rocky foundations that shape its gentle features today.

It's all a clue to what's about to happen to London in the not-so-distant future.
the "teletubbies" buildings may be imitating the UEL "pepperpots" further along the river
I know the Olympic Park venues very well, but the Shooting Venue was completely off my radar until I saw its details at the RIBA this afternoon, and coincidentally you feature it today! I'm not sure how out of place it is - isn't it where the circus big top and the fun fair go when they're in town? I'll have to take a look on Saturday when I go to Woolwich for Le Voyage des Aquareves.
I am so thankful that you have given me a chance to tour and see London. Thanks!
My boyfriend lives not far from Lesnes Abbey - lovely to see it mentioned here! It's great to see parts of London mentioned that few people know about.
