Celebrity rules supreme it seems. I for one am not amused either.

I can't believe Boris got in. What a total fucker. This is so depressing.

Give Boris a chance! If he fucks up you can say I told you so, if he does well be pleasantly surprised!

Tossers indeed. Bollocks.

Bojo's dad'll probably win Henley next.

I feel sorry for you Geezer. I am surprised that a clown like Boris could get elected. We get more like the Americans every day.

As another outsider for now, I worry.

Give it six months, I may care some more.

You have my sympathy. What a terrible night for London.

*grimace*

I was there for most of the evening too.

You could always emigrate if it gets too bad ... plenty of refugees in Oz fled their home countries because of political tyranny.

As a non-Londoner, I'm now glad I am a non-Londoner. Poor DG

The news that Boris Johnson is to be London Mayor, has put a feeling of gloom over my Bank Holiday weekend.
As for you DG with the double disaster of also having George Galloway as your MP, you have my sympathy.
Media personalities in political posts.
George Galloway is on TalkSport radio tonight at 10pm, he has a weekly phone-in show, perhaps you should telephone him there DG!.
DG for Mayor next time?

Sympathies DG.

At least I still have a pretty good MP. Black days indeed.

I woke up this morning with a feeling of dread and the knowledge that something really horrible had happened the night before....and then I remembered.

We get the government we deserve. Nothing more, nothing less.

Think positively: London's bigger and better than any politician.

I'm so glad I left last year!!

Democracy it is call democracy, the cause that you pillor other countries about.

And the BNP won a seat on the Assembly too. Just in case I wasn't despairing enough.

My Mp is stephentimms
and i am glad boris Won

I imagine there are a lot of Routemaster anoraks with peculiar body odour problems who are overjoyed this morning.

I'm going to go on a bus today - something I don't do very often, for obvious reasons, but crucially something that I can still do.

It may be the last time for at least four years.

I think the commenter above, extolling the wonders of Australia, may have a point.

Bye bye Ken - thief, liar, traitor, embarrassment; you won't be missed.

To all the negative commenters - don't be downcast. Livingstone was sucking you dry. Finally enough of you saw through it.

Cant be any worse than the ANTI BRITISH Ken Livingstone.!!!!

*Yawn*

Seen it all before when Ken became leader of the GLC in 1981. It soon passed.

This may help to jog a few memories...

And, I'd suggest that what Colin in Thailand says explains why the BNP now have a seat. The frustration of many being expressed in the only way they know, despite the clear flaws in their policies, methods and values. Hopefully Boris may be able to do something about that too.

And, didn't you love the way that Ken said it was his fault, and only his fault, that he lost? HUGE big implication that it was Gordon's, but not what he said.

That's been the problem with Ken, or at least latter day Ken, of course.

I feel your pain! I must live in the same constituency as you. Although I must admit I quite like Boris and his buffoonery.

urgh. quite distasteful. despite Galloway being my MP, i never hear from him, other than whilst he is being a celebrity.

...and a BNP seat in the Assembly. It may well be time to leave.

I feel just like I did in 1992 when Major won the General Election - despair.

Do not worry - we shall all wake up soon and find it was all just a nasty dream. Ha!

What a terrible, terrible day for London. I can't believe it.

Goodbye Mayor who commutes on public transport.
Goodbye Mayor who lived for this role.
Goodbye Mayor who cared deeply for London.
Goodbye Mayor who took the hit on fares and taxes now to sow the seeds for long-term gain for London.

Hello Mayor who has never shown the slightest interest in London's problems.
Hello Mayor who just thought running would just be a few months of chasing after Ken while upping your political capital within the Tory party.
Hello Mayor who is only doing this to get back on the Tory front bench.
Hello Mayor who will sacrifice long-term projects for quick wins, because he won't be here in 10, 15, 20 years when the long term schemes will begin to pay back.
Hello Mayor who will be there to claim the credit when some of Ken's long-term projects begin to deliver their benefits.

It makes me feel sick to think that Ken paid the price for fare and tax rises used to invest in London's desperately overcrowded infrastructure while Boris will be there to cut the ribbons and enjoy the acclaim as these schemes begin to come to fruition.

Galloway's got a MySpace? Hahahaha!

I’m pleased that Boris got in, but you have my commiserations with Galloway.

I'm eagerly looking forward to the Mayoral Elections of 2012, when Jade Goody gets sworn in.

all those who voted for boris are 100\\% responsible for everything he does over the next four years... if he fucks up its your fault! i mean seriously his policies are horse shit! people voted for him coz they hated ken or just liked his stupid hair... and now were stuck with a mildly racist, incompitent upper class nob who couldnt even run the shitty spectator. lol. how did you jump to the conclusion that he could run london? im really angry! lol

My MP is StephenTimms
and i am glad Boris Won

Have I finally worked out why she calls herself Blue Witch - or am I wrong as usual ?

You're wrong as usual PoP

I think the difference between Ken and Boris is Ken cares deeply about the real London, whereas Boris cares deeply about a make-believe one.

I'm emmigrating to Holland

Matt said: Bye bye Ken - thief, liar, traitor, embarrassment; you won't be missed. Finally enough of you saw through it.

I know why you are saying that Matt (RMs), but if everybody is that smart, how comes Boris got voted in..? BTW, Livingstone got more votes this time than last time round!
I can't wait to see how Boris does trying to represent London abroad.. He had problems in Liverpool, remember? No wonder nobody takes the Brits seriously..

Democracy, eh? Give people half a chance and they vote for an incompetent buffoon. And we were all laughing at the French, Italians and Americans for electing their respective idiots. I'm finally beginning to see things from the Chinese point of view... almost.

Did you see that the BNP got a higher proportion of the vote in City&East than anywhere in London? 5.46\\% of our lovely neighbours, equalling 10,421 people, voted for the fascists. 'Orrible. It's enough to make you go throw yourself in the Limehouse Basin.
