Best way to see some of Kew Gardens without going in is from the top deck of the 65 bus as it goes along Kew Road.
I have a Friends Membership of Kew which gives free addmision.

a note on cost of kew - a single entry ticket is very expensive but if you are local then the 39 pounds annual 'friends' ticket is (comparably) rather better value, and includes 6 'free' adult tickets for others.

And if you work there for ten years or more you get free entry for life. Possibly there are easier ways to save yourself 13 quid...

I really don't like to be a pedant but several dreadful things happened on the day Marc Bolan died, including the accidental death of one of my brother's closest friends. It was 16th Sept 1977. I thin you will find that Maria Callas died on that day too

It's got to be said though - it's particularly weird that we both chose to go to Kew Gardens on one of the rainiest days of the year so far...!
