It seems odd to me that the supposedly enterprising private rail operating comapnies never took the opportunity to co-ordinate with World of Adventures to extend the Chessington service over the existing tracks to Chalky Lane to provide a much more pleasant way to reach World of Adventures than the mile-long trek along the busy A243
If you turn right at the end of the Bonesgate Stream and walk a mile up stream to where the Green Lanes Stream joins the Hogsmill, there has been some major rewilding. The Green Lane Stream has been diverted through two new reed ponds and joins the Hogsmill several hundred metres down stream.
I had read that the plan was to lay track to Leatherhead from Chessington South but the war and post war austerity put paid to that.
The plan was indeed to lay track to Leatherhead from Chessington South.
