The difference in the presentation of the effectiveness of the lateral flow test is worrying, it seems to be something along the lines of 'its a bit rubbish, but we're testing people who wouldn't have tested normally - so its OK'.

The farce of picnic eggs being regarded as a substantial meal in pubs by one MP, or not by another MP, (then deciding they were later) - how many bags of crisps constitutes a substantial meal?.

Or Dr. Fauci's 'misunderstanding', a gift to anti-vaxxers.

UK excess deaths to 20 November are 75,550 per BBC news.
This will understate the number of early deaths somewhat as some people who died in the spring would normally have died by now. In the (very) long run, the number of excess deaths will return to zero.
