Fascinating. As a Bromley lad l am aware of these ancient hamlets you mention - but also one more that has disappeared: the hamlet of Widmore near Widmore Road. There are a cluster of medieval houses still there and used to be a pub (Bird in Hand) but that is now a private house.

Very weird water tower. Strange that its legs taper towards the bottom. Must have been intended as a visual gimmick, I see no engineering justification. And they whatever cost more than straight ones.

I lived about a mile from Newyears Green until around 30 years ago. It was thoroughly miserable then, and I’m not at all surprised to read that it was still miserable 25 years later.
