Some interesting geographical findings.

I am led to wonder whether the Thames flowing due east is entirely a coincidence. Obviously the geology underlies it. But perhaps a great city is particularly likely to develop at the lowest crossing point of an eastbound river, particularly if the prevailing wind is from the west.
As a joke, it'd be interesting to read the zero miles point (ie Trafalgar Square), but written in a similar style to the other posts, so it feels like obscure suburbia rather than the centre.
Great series - the north route managed to hit (or at least nearly hit) 7 places with very close personal connections; university, work, my flat, two rental properties and my ex-wife’s house. Some nice to be reminded of... others less so.
Got me thinking where the furthest points N.E.S.W would be...and whether any would be on-land.
I was amazed to see Papworth Everard as 50 miles due north (almost) from London. I have a cousin who lives there and my mental geography had always placed Cambridgeshire further to the Northeast!

The Blog that Challenges Perceptions! Good stuff
180 and then all the way to North Pole... indeed British meridians probably aren't the ones known for running over land. They hit the Atlantic well before the equator and after that it's all the way to Antarctica. Of course, the meridians on the opposite side are even worse...
Thanks, DG. Fascinating series.

My sister was in Papworth for a long time, working at the hospital, now moved to Cambridge. I also think of Cambridgeshire as north east, but the country leans over the west a bit so it is really more to the north than the east.

Going north from Mappleton, you clip Flamborough Head. From a bit of Google Mapping, the statue of Charles I seems to be at 51.507N 0.1279W, and then the village of Flamborough is around 54.116N 0.1276W, here. Probably not an integer number of miles north, though.

dg writes: Absolutely an integer number of miles, twice. Updated, thanks.
Having enjoyed the series.
Now how about an encore with NW SW SE and NE.
I am also not doing any other compass points, thanks.
