Regarding the wildflower meadows: were the flowers annuals, which might be expected to disappear completely before coming again from seed this year (in which case the important thing is not to cut them back before they have set seed), or perennials, which would be expected to sprout again? It looks like the area in your photograph has been comprehensively mown or strimmed, but I think the plans were to plant thousands of new trees and bushes as part of the legacy.

And how is reinstatement going at Greenwich Park, Blackheath, Woolwich and Leyton Marshes? http://www.wharf.co.uk/2013/04/will-greenwich-park-ever-recov.html
Having 'joined' you in walking round fairly recently the reopening of Waterden Road can't come soon enough. I was pretty fed up to confirm (I had looked at the map before) that the only pedestrian route at the moment is basically via Leyton tube.

Why didn't the Northern Retail Lifeline allow for pedestrians even if they were barred during the games?
So glad to be back where this column belongs, most interesting, thank you.
Not all of the water chariots are dead, a new company has the boats now at Roydon, they claim the olympic tours start next month.
In response to the question from Andrew, I can't say about the others but I passed Woolwich Common now, and you would barely know anything had been there.
There are some low level fences to protect some areas where the grass has still to grow back but all of the other 'built structures' are now completely gone.
Hmmm. You've got my curiosity going now: I feel a trip to Greenwich Park coming on, to see what's happened there.
