"unless you're the sort of curmudgeon who enjoys hearing fellow passengers' phone conversations collapse when they enter a tunnel"

*puts hand up*
Top story on the BBC this morning. More Crossrail delays...
My first thought when I read what was covered (and more importantly what was not) is perfectly summarised in your very last sentence.
Of course the other way the Mayor has been reducing bus emissions has been by culling routes and frequencies.
I do wonder what the educated guess (ie not mine) is now on Crossrail. Not a peep in a presser a third of the way thru 2019...

Ha! Thanks!
Where to temporarily site parliament? Doh, I don't know. Brexit? Doh, I don't know. Elizabeth Line? Doh, I don't know. Tails wagging dogs everywhere.
I find it annoying that TfL can spend time and money on producing this sort of pointless guff but can no longer be bothered to produce bus maps.
Having tried the "new improved" hire bikes once, immediately resolved to only use them if nothing else was available. Much less stable.
A cynic (ie me) would suggest that this is an early shot in the Mayor's re-election campaign.
...most of the issues would be solved/improved by setting a cap/placing a limit on London's population. Maybe going so far as to actively reduce it. Instead it seems to be left unchecked and allowed to run-wild...which will only bring more problems.
Early Mayoral election leaflet. He’s running scared already.
it's great that Sadiq gets London tax payers to fund his re-election campaign !

back in August 2018 some "Mayor of London" posters went up in Tube stations with content such as:

"Everyone should have a place to call home. The Mayor, Sadiq Khan, is doing everything in his power to build a London for everyone. That's why he's - Building thousands of homes for ownership to help first-time buyers - Making it easier to find an affordable home with our new online portal - Blocking developers' plans if they don't include enough genuinely affordable housing"

Somebody seemed to realise this was going too far - and they disappeared fairly quickly. I got photos whilst they were up originally - really felt like what you'd expect from those fake elections we seeing happening in foreign countries!
Is the tube wifi actually available these days? Every time I've tried it's been only for customers of a handful of mobile phone networks (not including mine) - a real shame for a programme that would be very useful for foreign visitors otherwise.
Item 7 is important information, the rest of it just seems to be PR. I wonder how many trees were cut down to make these leaflets. What would be much more useful would be a leaflet on travelling with greater needs for a seat and what the rest of us need to be aware of. One side could have this information and the other side could be a map of step-free Underground stations.
Dude, capital T for 'Tube', please, unless you're talking about a generic tube-shaped thing.
This blog is not beholden to the strictures of the TfL style guide.
I am most definitely "the sort of curmudgeon who enjoys hearing fellow passengers' phone conversations collapse when they enter a tunnel"!
Very reminiscent of the way politicians like to reannounce good news in as many ways as possible

A waste of money, I've no idea what the justification for this sort of puff is and home the assembly members ask questions.

i guess Sadiq Khan is a child of New Labour
All part of the run in to the 2020 Mayoral election. We saw similar "haven't we done well" publicity blurb from Boris in 2012 IIRC. The sudden ability to find £5m to stop ticket office closures on the Overground and an adjusted TfL budget that magically made 50% of the planned cut to bus mileage disappear are all part of this in my view. Of course things will likely revert to past plans if re-election is achieved in May 2020. Cynical moi?
the thing is that Sadiq Khan probably doesn't even *need* to fiddle the books to win ... a poll a few months ago had him winning 55% on the first round !
