A fascinating post that nobody can think of anything to add to. Sorry to spoil the duck, but as someone who has run the London Marathon twice (including the first one back in 1981!) it is appalling that LOCOG think that they need to display central London again for a couple of minutes at the end of the race - in any event the pictures are of the runners crossing the line not the scenery - have they taken leave of their senses?

The London Marathon does this in April. This is the OLYMPICS. The runners want the roar of the crowd. Please keep us posted on any formal campaign to prevent any other solution from being formulated.

Having lived on the Mill Hill/Edgware border for 75% of my life, I had no idea the 1948 marathon came through! According to the map (if you got it right) they ran right past my best friend's door!

I really hope the powers that be see sense and keep the finish at the stadium.
