I smelt a rat the moment I saw that foolscap was way ahead of A4. I mean, seriously, who would vote for foolscap when the alternative is A4? A4 is a sensible size that is part of a family of logically related sizes. The 'A' family also has complementary envelope sizes. What is there not to like?
On logical paper sizes, I just overheard a conversation this very day, where someone said "I think A4 is too big for [purpose redacted]. Let's go for A3".
@Andrew - Bah! What's the point of freeing ourselves from the uniformity of the A paper sizes if we're just going to go back to another dull, boring rectangle?
The best thing about Brexit is that it allows us the opportunity to ban the rectangles and introduce new triangular or hexagonal paper instead! (Sadly the Conservatives are just too unimaginative to see the potential, and the opportunity to do something really creative is being wasted.)
Indeed: freed from the shackles of the EU, we can make new free trade agreements to sell our innovative hexagonal paper sizes to new markets like Kitibati, Laos and Djibouti.
