(Oh and Greg, whatever you suggest I'm probably going to delete, so don't bother)

Surely it should be the QE2 park. God bless all who sail in her!

This is where Londoner are brilliant. Whatever we are told the official name is, we will invent out own. We always do.

Acronymned to QEOP and pronounced Qwee-op, which will soon become Kwop. Sorted.

I expect it'll actually end up as something more corporate.

Such as: The Merlin Entertainments Queen Elizabeth Olympic Parkā„¢

I don't have an Axe to grind but I expect ye olde locals will find some rhyming slang to describe it - & probably connected with some visual or functional attribute that becomes evident during the Olympics.

"High-rise waterside quarters (hmmm), rolling natural(ish) parkland and sweeping Georgian-style crescents "

Thamesmead 2?

I *love* the events calendar.

You just want it to be Called Diamond Geezer Park, don't you? ;)

(diamond after the monarch's 60th, geezer after East End).

The first thing I thought when I read the full name was "everyone will call it Betsey Park!"

Granted, Lizzie makes more sense, but my vote's in for Betsey Park.

It's in East London; it'll get a nickname that will stick from the locals, regardless of whatever it is "officially" called

(c.f. "Madonna's Tits" vs "A13 Artscape Project - Scylla and Charybdis" in Dagenham. No-one there calls it by its official name, just as none of the official documentation uses the name that the locals use)

I don't think they are exploring the full range of corporate synergies.

I'm sure a certain high street bank with a fondness for bicycles would look favourably on an arrangement that ensured the ponds would always be their particular shade of blue.

And, in light of their recent PR difficulties, a certain patriotically named purveyor of petroleum substances might be interested in assisting the development of this park were they to receive assurances that the grass would always maintain a hue of green reminiscent of their logo.
