An interesting mélange of architectural styles & images that are uplifting & eye catching. Well spotted DG.
Interesting hike, the roundels are all rather lovely.
I can't read the words on the roundel.
Some seem to be mirror images.
What is CONNR07?...
Splendid photos. As usual supported by fascinating facts.
Joho, I think that's supposed to read "CONNECT".
Normally I’m not really interested in these Arty initiatives, but these the roundels are an exception they are both functional and real ART from the community.
The roundels are just perfect, and inspirational. An MBE for Maud, and funding to do the rest of the line, please!
Oh,durh, thanks.

I should have said, I love the roundel anyway.
Walala - for once a decorated building that is fantastic! Leyton here I come - eventually...
Is the Wanstead "Under Ground" sign unique in that respect, or does anyone know of any other examples?

This has made me really miss travelling around and seeing new places. I love that roundel.
My neck of the woods!

Deeney's is a great cafe - if you've not tried a haggis toastie yet, I can recommend it. They have been open for takeaway, but it appears there's been a Covid-enforced closure.
I thought the Leytonstone High Road was amazing, and then I clicked on the enlargement and - oh wow!! Truly stunning.

Also I love the brightly painted buildings above the shops - just what all High Streets could do with during these depressing times.
They also splashed paint around Leyton High Road for Olympics in 2012.
Those roundels really are something special. And I want a haggis toastie now!
Great post, Leyton might be a bit far for non-essential travel for me, but lovely to see what I'm missing.
Corner Art Deco building made me think immediately of the Zagros building Harrow Road, in trying to illustrate my thinking i came across an article in El Pais, easy to read for latin language speakers. WIth a pic scrolling down.
Viva Zagros
That gap in the Wanstead roundel is there because the text used to be 'LONDON TRANSPORT', not 'UNDERGROUND'
