The HS1 ventilation shaft is labelled "ventilation plant" on OSM, which sounds much more impressive.
As the road appears to have formerly catered for vehicles, I wonder when, and why, this ceased.

I got the impression this bleak wilderness was much bigger from the photo, but the map destroyed my rural illusion!

Agreed CC, the photo has a misleading perspective, which had me scratching my head at missing such a large stretch of secret wilderness next to the North Circular!
